Beschreibung

The 5th edition of the international workshop series “QCD Challenges from pp to AA collisions” took place in Muenster, Sept. 2-6, 2024 (starting on Sep. 2 at 13:00 and finishing on Sep. 6 at 12:00).

The workshop is by invitation and  in-person only.

The goal of the workshop is to discuss open questions in the field of QCD that are addressed by experiments studying high-energy proton-proton and heavy-ion collisions. Experimental physicists and theorists will discuss together open problems, possible solutions, and future theoretical and experimental directions.

The workshop is organized in plenary and round-table sessions related to the following tracks:

  • Initial state and ultra-peripheral.
    Conveners: Giuliano Giacalone, Michael Winn.
Participants:  Simone Ragoni, Kate Lynch, Benjamin Bally, Petja Pakkinen, Oscar Montero
  • Jet production and properties in pp and in the medium.
    Conveners: Liliana Apolinario, Martin Spousta.
Participants: Yi Chen, Leonardo Barreto, Guilherme Milhano, Joao Barata
  • Event properties and hydro in small and large systems
Conveners: David Chinellato, Wilke van der Schee.
Participants: Lucia Tarasovičová, Andreas Kirchner, Renata Krupczak, Victor Ambrus, Nicolas Borghini, Mihai Petrovici, Aleksas Mazeliauskas
  • Hadronization of light and heavy flavour across collision systems
Conveners: Christian Bierlich, Livio Bianchi, Ralf Rapp.
Participants:  Alice Ohlson, Jing Wang, Hendrik van Hees, Andrea Dubla, Dibyendu Bala, Peter Braun-Munzinger, Johanna Stachel, Antonio Ortiz, Peter Christiansen, Salvatore Plumari
  • Energy loss and transport in the medium and in small systems
    Conveners: Andrea Beraudo, Andrea Rossi.
Participants: Dana Avramescu, Maria Lucia Sambataro, Tom Magorsch, Viljami Leino, Mattia Faggin, Pol-Bernard Gossiaux

In a plenary session invited speakers will give a "trigger talk" corresponding to each track. The track session (Tue-Wed), consist of small groups (7-8 persons) in which new ideas and studies from both the experimental and theoretical sides can be discussed in details, based on talks by the participants.  Inter-track sessions will be organized on Thu. The conveners of each track will steer the discussion and recap it in the last plenary session in the last day of the workshop (Fri, morning).

On Thursday we will organize a city tour in the afternoon and a festive dinner in the evening.

Statement on the Russian war on Ukraine

The organizers  strongly condemn the war that Russia conducts against Ukraine.
We subscribe to the statements on the war by the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), the European Physical Society (EPS), the German Physical Society (DPG), and the German Research Council (DFG).
