Beschreibung

Even though many white people tend to suppress this fact, most people with an international family background are repeatedly confronted with everyday racism.

But what is everyday racism? What role do the media play in it? What can I do to recognize racism and discrimination? What should I pay attention to in language and imagery?

In this workshop, participants use real-life examples to examine racist and discriminatory images and statements, and to analyse their origins and effects.

Building on this reflection, participants will develop strategies for using language that is sensitive to racism and discrimination.

This workshop is open to all students and can be attended as part of the General Studies. Assessment: During the four weeks between meetings, participants will carry out projects they will present and discuss at the end of the course.

The second meeting will take place on 12.06.2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in seminar room 56, Botanicum, Schlossgarten 3.

The course will be held in English.
