📚 What can you fit into a little zine? A favourite recipe, a playlist, a collection of memories, or a world entirely of your own making?

Explore your senses! Join us at the Book Studio in this four-part zine-making series, we'll turn everyday experiences, personal memories, and things that inspire us into small, handmade publications. Each evening focuses on a different sensory theme (taste, sound, touch, and sight) inviting you to experiment with words, images, textures, and collage. Discover new ways to collect your thoughts, express your perspective, and create your own little worlds on paper.

Nov. 4 - Week 1: Sound - MusicZines 🎶

What songs tell your story? From favourite artists and treasured playlists to sounds that remind you of a particular time or place, explore the role music plays in your life. Turn your musical memories and inspirations into a zine full of lyrics, images, and creative expression.

Nov. 11 - Week 2: Taste - FoodZines 🍋

What tastes like home to you? Explore the memories, flavours, and food traditions that bring people together. From favourite recipes to unforgettable meals, create a zine that captures your personal relationship with food through words, images, and collage.

Nov. 18 - Week 3: Touch - ObjectZines 🧵

Some objects hold more meaning than others. Explore the textures, keepsakes, collections, and everyday things we hold on to. Through words, drawings, collage, and material experimentation, create a zine about the objects that connect us to people, places, and memories.

Nov. 25 - Week 4: Sight - PlaceZines 👁️

What do you notice when you really look around? From familiar streets and favourite corners to overlooked details and unexpected discoveries, explore the world through your own perspective. Use photographs, drawings, maps, and collage to create a zine that captures the places and details that catch your eye.

✨ No prior experience is necessary. All curious minds and creative beginners are welcome! Registration is for all sessions, but attendance of all sessions is not required.

✂️ Materials (paper, scissors, markers, glue, staples, etc.) will be provided, and participants are also free to bring materials to use and/or share. At the end of each session, participants will be invited to present their zine(s) to the group.

"A zine, short for fanzine or magazine, is a DIY subculture self-publication, usually made on paper and reproduced with a photocopier or printer." - Barnard Zine Library
