Labour law recognises the private care work of employees in various ways, such as granting them the right to take time off or adapt their working arrangements. Nevertheless, private care work is still legally considered the exception – the Other of employment. Against the backdrop of feminist critiques of subjective rights, this workshop will discuss how individual accommodation rights would need to be modified and open search processes encouraged to promote structural and sustainable change in the workplace.
