From Idea to Paper: Join us for a mentored three-day reproduction hackathon!

Background

When building on past research, we rely on it being correct and robust - and yet, these characteristics are rarely assessed. Join us in Münster for three days to learn everything you need to know about reproducing research, conducting your own reproduction, and getting it ready for submission to an academic journal.

What will you work on?

In a teams of three, participants will pick a study for which they conduct a numerical reproduction as well as a robustness check. The event is divided into three parts:

  • Before the event: You will be assigned to a team of researchers and pick your target study from a curated list of nominated findings (own nominations are possible).
  • Wednesday: A team of experienced researchers will teach you everything you need to know about reproduction studies and you will plan your robustness check.
  • Thursday: Carry out the reproduction and robustness check.
  • Friday: Write your report.
  • AI-led team: To explore the potential of AI-led reproductions, one team will conduct all the other reproductions using a cutting-edge agentic LLM (e.g., ReproAI).
  • After the event: The reports and an editorial will be published in a special issue at Replication Research.

Who should apply?

The event is designed for early-career researchers with experience in quantitative analysis and coding (e.g., R, Stata, Python).

Why join?

ReproHack gives you a chance to collaborate with a team of open science advocates, learn about state-of-the-art Open Science-Practices, earn credit through a publication in one of the most transparent and rigorous journals.

Limited number of travel grants

This project is funded by the Münster Center for Open Science, which allows us to pay travel and accommodation for participants.

We are looking forward to working with you!
