The Carnian Pluvial Episode (CPE) was a major Late Triassic climatic perturbation that reshaped terrestrial ecosystems. Yet subtropical plant communities along the northwestern Tethyan margin remain comparatively underdocumented, limiting reconstructions of low latitude vegetation. The Carnian outcrop of Neuewelt (near Basel, Switzerland) preserves a significant plant macrofossil assemblage from this region, offering new insight into the composition and structure of Late Triassic floras. Here we present a preliminary macromorphological revision of the historical Neuewelt collection, complemented by cuticular observations. The integration of macromorphology with epidermal features refines taxonomic assignments and informs plant diversity and ecological strategies within subtropical settings. The assemblage records a diverse flora, that includes lycophytes, ferns, sphenophytes, cycadophytes, seed ferns, and conifers, indicative of a structurally complex plant community. By combining macrofloral and cuticular data, this study improves taxonomic resolution and contributes to a more detailed reconstruction of Carnian subtropical vegetation along the northwestern Tethyan margin.
