Leserunde: Die Illusion der Chancengleichheit: Reicht Leistung allein? / Reading Circle: The Illusion of Equal Opportunity: Is Effort alone enough?

In our society, people are rewarded for their performance and abilities — At least that's what we are taught. Unfortunately, for a large part of the population, meritocracy remains little more than a myth. In our reading circle, we’ll explore why and to what extent women are still disadvantaged in the workplace. We’ll read excerpts from Caroline Criado Perez’s book "Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men" and discuss our thoughts afterward. The texts will be provided in german and english— along with cookies and gingerbread! 🍪 Everyone is very welcome to join:) Feel free to bring friends!

For planning purposes, we would ask you to register non-bindingly in advance. If you decide to join spontaneously, you’re welcome too, of course :) 

Die Illusion der Chancengleichheit: Reicht Leistung allein? In unserer Gesellschaft wird man für Leistung und Können belohnt. So wird es uns zumindest beigebracht. Leider ist Meritokratie für einen Großteil der Bevölkerung meist nur ein Mythos. In unserer Leserunde fokussieren wir uns darauf, warum und in welchem Ausmaß Frauen am Arbeitsplatz benachteiligt sind. Wir lesen gemeinsam Ausschnitte aus Caroline Criado-Perez' Buch "Unsichtbare Frauen: Wie eine von Daten beherrschte Welt die Hälfte der Bevölkerung ignoriert" und tauschen uns anschließend darüber aus. Die Texte bekommt ihr vor Ort von uns auf deutsch und auf englisch zur Verfügung, sowie Kekse und Lebkuchen! Alle sind herzlich eingeladen :) Bringt gerne Freunde mit!
