"A zine, short for fanzine or magazine, is a DIY subculture self-publication, usually made on paper and reproduced with a photocopier or printer." - Barnard Zine Library

In this Book Studio workshop, English Department staff have the chance to try hands-on booklet making, creating their own 'how-to' minizines. 'How-to' or 'DIY' zines share knowledge and instruct readers on how to do one small task, which could be making pizza dough, planting flowers, or stirring up discussion in the classroom. More than just instructional, how-to zines offer chances for expression, creativity, collaboration, and reflection on the material means through which information is shared.

After the workshop, the how-to zines will be collected and scanned, and each participant will receive a bundle of zines in their university postbox.
