This presentation is based on a book project focused on popular representations of genetic genealogy and their implications for the discourse of identity. Like the concepts of race and ethnicity, as well as national and geographic heritage, family and kinship figure prominently in this analysis of genealogy-focused media, particularly in light of the recent surge of stories about surprise DNA results and unearthed family secrets.
