Beschreibung

Over the past decade, the international book community has watched with distress how increased political, ideological and religious polarisation has led to different types of book censorship being imposed around the world, as well as an increase in the cases of vandalism and aggressive and anti-social behaviour directed towards bookshops and booksellers. In response, the European and International Booksellers Federation (EIBF), through its EU co-funded project RISE Bookselling, published a research paper to raise awareness on the topic of bookshops, censorship and freedom of expression. Follow this presentation by Tora Åsling, Policy Officer at EIBF, to learn about the extent of book censorships currently imposed across Europe, America and Australia, as well as the extent of the violence that is directed against bookshops around the world.
