Beschreibung

Paper marbling is a centuries-old technique in which pigments are floated on the surface of water and carefully manipulated into intricate, fluid patterns before being transferred onto paper. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of marbling and have the opportunity to experiment with color, movement, and composition, creating their own unique designs. We will marble both loose sheets of paper and the edges of books, exploring how this technique can be used for decoration and personalisation.

You are welcome to bring your own books to customise, keeping in mind that unintended marks can occur if handled without care. All materials are provided by the Book Studio and no prior experience is necessary.

When registering, you must use your @uni-muenster.de email account.

Optional background reading: browse through the online exhibit "Book Edges. Blanc, Inscribed, Gilded and Coloured" from KU Leuven.
